Museum of Mayhem at San Diego Comic Con 2019
Sparks Gallery transformed into “The Museum of Mayhem” in a total takeover during Comic Con 2019. The theme of this event was centered around Borderlands 3, a “shooter-looter” game with a huge fan base. Inside, a haircutting station allowed fans to get the logo of the game cut into their hair, and outside, a beverage stand allowed for refreshments and a view of San Diego artist Optimus Volts, painting live and featuring his artwork.
Fans lined up down the street to enter a costume contest, decked out as their favorite characters from Borderlands. The venue was adorned with caricature portraits and special edition collectables and souvenirs for purchase. A photo booth captured fans in costumes, posing with action props. In the front of the space, a string orchestra performed, donning masks from the Borderlands 3 game.
