Fiona Phillips
Fiona Phillips is a contemporary artist living in Vista CA. Much of what shapes her studio practice is derived from her experiences both as a girl in England and as part of an English immigrant family in California.
The focus of her studio work is figurative oil painting, but she finds inspiration in other media such as photography, installation, and drawing. Creating clothing, props and headwear is also part of Phillips’ studio practice. She dresses her models in these items which are featured in the painted images. Even in her water imagery clothing is a source of interest and meaning.
Phillips earned an MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Art in 2008, and an MA in Humanities/Art from Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2001. She was an adjunct professor of art at Southern Utah University until 2009. She has participated in numerous national, state, and regional juried shows, including the Oceanside Museum of Art, Springville Museum of Fine Art, the St. George Art Museum, Dixie State, SUU Art Museum and the LDS Museum of Art and History. She has enjoyed one person exhibitions in California, Utah, Arizona, and Nevada, and is part of private and corporate collections in Europe and the US. She is married to the love of her life and has a wonderful, energetic family.
