Irene Abraham

Irene Abraham began her career as a research biologist, using data to interpret natural phenomena. Abraham received her MFA in Visual Arts from Vermont College of Fine Arts and a Ph.D from the University of Carolina, Chapel Hill. Abraham’s current work explores ideas about networks, systems, language and probability and how constructions by humans mimic organization of structures in both the physical and biological spheres. Abraham exhibited artworks in group and solo shows locally, at the La Jolla Athenaeum, Mesa College, Oceanside Museum of Art, and MiraCosta College, and nationally. Abraham recently exhibited in a four person show at the Bonita Museum.

“Ruminations about the art/science nexus get coded and translated in my paintings and drawings using diverse source material such as maps, puzzles, diagrams, graphs, landscape photos and text.” – Abraham
