My fascination with how the world works was inspired by my father. A teacher, inventor, and artist in his own right, Dad built our family home from scratch. After earning my bachelor’s degree in fine arts from UCLA, my own art took a backseat when I became a father myself. I continued working with my hands creating custom millwork and cabinets, and building additions to my own home, including an artist studio. Over the years I came to realize that the most important part of doing any job right is having the right tools. When I returned to painting, it was with a renewed sense of purpose—to fully immerse myself in the process by studying and deconstructing every element, so as to find the right tools and techniques to best execute my vision.

Reminiscence

My still-life paintings are a celebration of harmony, mystery, and life’s vibrancy. Though inspired by nature’s shapes, lines, and colors, my compositions are meant to invite viewers into a dialogue between the mysterious and the recognizable. From afar, my work may resemble a familiar form, but up close, the brushstrokes dissolve into something more intimate and abstract, offering endless interpretations. My goal is to create art that resonates like a poem or a song, stirring memories, emotions, and a sense of place.

Like a captivating melody, my paintings emerge from my constant effort to remain present. As Jack London wrote in Call of the Wild, “There is an ecstasy that marks the summit of life, and beyond which life cannot rise. And such is the paradox of living, this ecstasy comes when one is most alive and it comes as a complete forgetfulness that one is alive.
