Joe Nyiri first of all calls himself an observer and from that springs his artistic creativity. Nyiri makes art because it is something he has to do each day (like having 2 cups of coffee in the morning). Nyiri keep making art, going forward, learning, pushing himself to get better each day; the perfect arrangement of forms and ideas in each piece – making the ordinary extraordinary. Nyiri values manual input in his art from personal observation and historic sources, he have a diversity of sources. Nyiri tries to achieve a coherence of techniques with new ideas; making one piece and others follow. Says Nyiri “there is a joy in creating something beautiful using my insight and indispensable observation. When a piece is finished I want to laugh, cheer, gasp, clap and wonder.”
Nyiri has been shown in 35 one-person exhibitions, 18 two-person exhibitions, and been awarded prizes. Nyiri’s work is in over 350 private and public collections.
