Tiffany Bociek

After graduating from the University of California San Diego with a degree in Visual Arts, Tiffany Bociek’s attention shifted away from traditional drawing when she saw encaustic painting for the first time at a gallery in Boston Massachusetts. Since 2014, she’s dedicated her creative practice to encaustics and has never looked back. Encaustic allows this artist the freedom not only to use the skills she has cultivated in drawing and painting, but also the opportunity to explore additional avenues of technique such as incising, photo transfers, and collage.

Currently, Bociek works out of her home studio in San Diego County; her home is the heart of her creative expression. She and her husband, Neal Bociek, a musician and sculptor, are avid gardeners and find that the garden is a huge source of inspiration for both of them. Her passion for gardening, along with memories of shifting through plants, fingers brown with soil, creates a deep-rooted connection with the earth that fuels many of her artworks. Each day, Bociek strives for a creative life filled not only with working in the encaustic medium, but also with the other many activities she loves: cooking unique and interesting food, flying on the trapeze, making oils and body products, and spending as much time as she can sketching in her sketchbook and in her studio.
