Artista Luchadora – I lived in Mexico City as a teenager. The colors of Mexican Art influenced my paintings. As an Art student, I spent a lot of time studying the expressionist paintings of deKooning. Eventually, I was able to combine the two elements and produce a series of Luchadora paintings. While painting them, I began to think of the Artist as luchadora. So, I painted her wielding brushes. Expressing the action comes from attending wrestling matches.
