Description

“The sunset exploded in color and then began to retreat into the ocean as the tide was tucked away, pulling up its ocean covers. This little area of Bird Rock is one of my favorites to visit at low tide. When it is at its lowest during only a few winter sunsets, the tide reveals an amazingly vast area but then just minutes later begins to cover up all the green rocks, sea creatures, and ocean floor beneath it. This phenomenon is one of my favorite subjects to use as a foreground to capture with the amazing sunsets that Southern California has the pleasure to witness setting behind the ocean. On this incredible day the beautiful, glassy reflection lasted just a moment before the next wave came in and I was forced to retreat as the tide rolled in higher and stronger with each successive wave.” – Jon Barnes
