This painting is a fanciful depiction of what life may be like on a world very different from our own, namely, in the gaseous environment of our largest celestial neighbor, Jupiter. My sense of wonder for this was first kindled as teenager when I first read Clifford Simak’s “City”, a novel consisting of a series of linked short stories chronicling the future of mankind, including the discovery of life on Jupiter.
