Description

“On my way to Morro Bay my goal was to capture a magnificent, colorful sunset exploding behind the mountain-like sea-stack commonly referred to as Morro Rock. I saw the gray clouds and lack of color in the sky and was saddened, almost feeling in a way, how the clouds looked to me. I took a few shots here and there and then suddenly found an amazing place. The dock and boats really gave me the feel of this quaint little fishing town that I was seeing for the first time. I was in awe how well this worked by contrasting to the background and I knew I was capturing something really special. I was just passing through that day but immediately I fell in love with this little quiet town. The clouds share my mood and the dock portrays this little area perfectly. To my surprise I was capturing one of the most deeply moving images of my life that evening! ‘Morro Bay’ rivals any image of mine in how deeply moving it is not just for me but for those that I show it to as well. That is always a goal that I try to achieve with my work and in this case I almost accidentally achieved it perfectly. I have met several people that have visited, photographed and lived in this little town and so many have told me it was their favorite image they have ever seen of it. Nothing makes me feel better than to hear those types of comments from the locals and other photographers that try so desperately to achieve the same feeling this did for them.” – Barnes
