“I met Pauolo Cristobal at a Gallery opening here in San Diego, was completely taken by his appearance and hired him that afternoon to pose in my studio. Getting to know him better, I learned he was a shaman and poet who lived in Mexico. I placed Pauolo under a strong rim light and painted him larger than life as a way to emphasize his masculinity, inner mystique, bright white hair and rich skin color. After this one spontaneous session, I have never seen or heard from him since and still wonder where he is and what road he is now traveling.” –Goldman
