Description
“On the south coast of Iceland’s Snæfellsnes peninsula, Búðakirkja, the black church of Búðir, stands alone surrounded by a giant lava field where dried black lava formations are covered in places by overgrown vibrant green grass. The giant Icelandic mountains standing majestically behind them make the perfect backdrop for a scene that could be nowhere else but Iceland. The drumming sounds of the snipe, a bird local to this area, can be heard echoing around you in the skies above. As quiet and alone as it was there, that sound has really stayed with me as one of the most unique and interesting sounds I have ever heard a bird make. It almost sounds like something from a movie from the Star Wars saga. Standing in a lava field shooting this isolated, historic black church while that bird made its video game sounds above me is an experience I will never forget.” – Jon Barnes
