Description
“Landscape and nature photography sometimes has moments of luck that create some of the most amazing and unique images one will ever capture or share with others. However, I tend to believe that with the proper planning and preparation, you get lucky a lot more often. This image I captured of Seljalandsfoss waterfall in Iceland is a perfect example of that. I planned to shoot the sunset from behind the falls well ahead of when I was actually going to be in Iceland. This phenomenon only happens during certain times of the year so I was excited that it could happen while I was there. However, all day was overcast and gray, and I thought it just wasn’t meant to be. Then suddenly, as the sun continued down, an hour or so before midnight, the clouds parted! It was as if I had made a wish that was being granted, and this magical moment began to unfold right before my eyes! Just moments later, the color and light all vanished but I had just witnessed one of the most spectacular scenes of my life from the cave behind this giant, beautiful waterfall!” – Jon Barnes
