Artist Statement: I used surrealism as a way to express the ebb and flow of thoughts and feelings we all have. The fishbowl acts as a sort of bubble encapsulating a young woman’s head. Inside, her thoughts and emotions swim like fish, flowing with the water and holding their own space. Inside her sphere she is safe and her thoughts are her own. The glow emanating from the woman brings life to her, amidst dark surroundings. The soft fragility of her features draws the viewer into her sweet restfulness.
