Description
My paintings document the process of attempting to describe the intangible. Colors and patterns appear to me in a semi-conscious state. The imagery in my paintings exists in the place between the imaginary and that of the observable world. By working with a flat picture plane, I focus on color juxtaposition and how shapes can interlock and interact across the composition. Vibrant pigments are used in combinations that pulsate. Shapes are delicately rendered by hand, with diamonds and triangles repeating rapidly to create imperfect topographies. Patterns are distorted to create idiosyncratic imaginary worlds, at times both whimsical and disorientating. My paintings are improvisations as well as maps of my dreams.
