Description

I was out giving a lesson to an aspiring young photographer in one of San Diego’s hidden gems, the beach of Windansea. Only the locals usually visit this place as tourists more commonly stay in San Diego or at the more popular beach areas. I was talking with him about perspective and how sometimes climbing up or down to a new viewpoint completely changes what you see through the lens. As I climbed on top of the rocks and explained why this was so important, it actually proved my point more than I had even planned on it doing. We walked around the area getting ready for the sunset that was starting to form and I knew I was going to return to that spot we had found. This piece is named for its perspective from the ledge of the rock I stood on that day. We were treated to something special from Mother Nature as the sky was painted and continued to change minute to minute in front of us until well after the sun went down. The image from that day still represents one of the most colorful sunsets I have ever seen in my life.
