“The name ‘Village People’ came to me when the painting was completed. And what a fitting name it was!
All paintings are like children; sometimes you pick a name before the baby is born, sometimes after. I very much enjoy creating caricature portraits: artistically speaking, putting ‘a face’ where it does not belong is one my favorite things on canvas. The work itself is a piece of comedy, exploring the interaction of multiple diverse characters in a group setting.” – Arshansky
