About the Artist

Anne Gaffey is a self-taught mixed-media artist based in San Diego, California. Her creative journey began in 1989 after hearing a clear inner voice say, “Be creative!” Since then, she has exhibited her work, taught art, collaborated with designers, and assisted internationally renowned artist Niki de Saint Phalle. I paint with intention—from a dream, a memory, a conversation, a feeling, and an open heart. I begin each piece by writing positive affirmations in charcoal directly onto the surface, creating an unseen foundation beneath layers of acrylic, handmade papers, molding pastes, gold leaf, encaustic, and resin.
