Artist Statement: From the smell of orange blossoms to the sights of humpback whales swimming along the coastline, this piece captures a memory from my childhood growing up in Southern California. My work aims to be a reminder of the shared connection between all living beings on earth- specifically in ways often misunderstood. For example, the life cycle of a plant on land is connected to the life cycle of a whale in the ocean whether we can see that connection or not. From the land to the sea, we are all connected.
