Lip Service
Lip Service
The idea behind the screen print Lip Service came from an image of Marilyn Monroe. The image was of just the eyes nose and mouth. I pulled the mouth image out and vectored it on my computer, to make a transparency for screen printing. I drew the lipsticks and separated the top and bottom images to print separately, also putting my logo inside the lipstick tube. As for the screen print on fabric, I would print one color at a time starting with blue in the background, Then the next colored would be juxtaposed over the top creating a 3D effect of distance. The colors used for the lips were chosen to match the metallic screen print ink I had for the lipsticks. The fabric itself came from a local shop, I like to go to swap meets and fabric stores to find interesting fabric patterns to screen print over. Many of the designs I have made for screen print pieces I match to the fabric patterns.
