Piedra de Luna

Piedra de Luna reminds me of watching the moon set from the rocky hills of my child hood. The view there extends over 40 miles to the Pacific Ocean. The volcanic rock in this piece comes from the beach near Ensanada Mexico. I strive to listen to materials and be open to what it is they want to say and do. The rock reminds me of the moon, with all its round holes. The shape of the iron grew out of this idea. The sequence of circles is a bridge between earth and moon, the way clouds near the moon in the sky make the moon appear closer. --Hubbell
