Medium: Acrylic, Ink, Oil and Graphite on Primed Canvas Paper
This work is in the manner of a portrait, exploring the personality of my prayer plant, Ctenanthe Setosa. By night the leaves curl and tilt up in prayer, revealing their glorious deep burgundy undersides. At dawn, the leaves open to expose their silvery green tops, reaching and reaching on improbably thin stalks to receive the sun. I find beauty, humor, and a heart-breaking fragility in their daily efforts, so relatable to us as humans.
