My latest work is my attempt to understand myself and others beyond the ways that I have been conditioned to see the world.

To see beyond the known conventions of race, culture, and gender, I reimagine common materials into imagined new forms that represent my unknown and intangible selves.

My urge for reinvention compels me to transform the mundane and reclaim problematic materials, like plastic, into a higher vision.

My process of wire wrapping my past portraiture in combination with reclaimed, self-painted acrylic sheeting and other familiar materials allows my past understandings of myself and my work to be transmuted into a broader understanding of untapped human potentials.

The heart of my work rests in the possibility that multiple true versions of self can coexist at the same time.

Through my art, I channel self-liberation by transcending the boundaries of race and gender, yet simultaneously, I also assert that as a Black woman, the inextricable threads of Blackness and femaleness are inevitably woven into all that I create.
